About the project
Journey Through Ancient Civilizations: an interactive 3D experience at the Porunai Museum that sets the Porunai river valley beside the Nile, Mesopotamia, the Indus Valley and the Yellow River.

Touch the screen and a globe turns to the great river valley civilisations. Tap a region to explore its cities, tools, stories and legacy.
Porunai sits alongside the Nile, Mesopotamia, the Indus Valley and the Yellow River, so visitors can see Tamil Nadu's own story in a world context.
Zoom into three sites.
From the globe, Porunai opens onto a map of the river valley with three excavation sites: Adichanallur, Sivagalai and Korkai.
Step into each site as it was.
Each site is recreated as a living 3D scene with people at work: salt and pottery at the port of Korkai, burials with iron swords, gold diadems and offering pots at Adichanallur.
Hotspots in the scene mark the artefacts. Tap one to learn what it is and compare it with other civilisations.
Hold history, turn it, compare it.
Every artefact opens as a 3D model to drag and rotate, with a short description and a Compare with other civilizations button.
